Moniton Pictures was formed in July 2005 by Andy Cassels having been involved in the Scottish film industry as a film-maker since 2001.
In late 2005, Moniton made it's first film with Party Piece - a dark comedy which was a directorial debut for Andy Cassels. This was followed up by filming every match of Greenock Morton's league-winning season in the 2006/7 campaign.
In Summer 2007 Andy directed his second short film, the tense thriller Seance Fiction which shot for two weeks in Fort William followed by pick-ups in Glasgow, Loch Lomond and Gourock. On the back of Seance Fiction came swiftly Bad Date which Andy had offered to Ray Tallan to direct. Shooting in August 2007 in Glasgow the film used much the same core crew as Seance Fiction.
The company was involved in co-producing Siubhlachan (The Traveller) a TV pilot for BBC Alba alongside Lily Island Films with award-winning director Uisdean Murray. The pilot screened on BBC Alba on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day 2009 to very positive reviews.
In late 2009 Moniton shot it's latest film Mixed Messages - a quirky comedy shot over 3 days in Glasgow. The film is currently in post-production and expected to be completed by March 2010.
Moniton Pictures are also presenting the UK Premiere screening of Masses Entertainment's '12 In A Box' feature film at Glasgow Film Theatre on 23rd March 2010. The event will be attended by the Producer of the film Bruce Windwood, and Director John McKenzie who will be hosting a Q&A with the audience after the screening.
